Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's divorce from her household, the actress was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. As a child she was suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder that caused anxiety due to the word association. Ford became interested in the field of acting during her teens and joined National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. After a couple of days, she concluded that Sylvia Young Theatre School was not the right place suitable for her. Ford applied again to Central School of Speech and Drama and, on her fourth application she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall - who later was the character Pete Tyler in Doctor Who was among her classmates. Ford graduated in 1993 but in the meantime she already had made her TV debut on a 1991 episode of Surgical Spirit; she adopted the professional name "Catherine Tate". Tate first appeared on television in 1991, appearing on shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. She also worked regularly in theatres, before eventually joining the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate began to gain attention due to her stand-up comedy in 1996.
